Ichtiofauna systemu rzeki Brok
Journal Title: Roczniki Naukowe Polskiego Związku Wędkarskiego - Year 2011, Vol 24, Issue
Abstract
Fish distribution and abundance were investigated in the Brok River system (72.9 km long, right side tributary of the Bug River) in 2010. At 17 sampling sites a total of 6314 individuals representing 24 lamprey and fish species (22 native and 2 alien) were collected by electrofishing. The most numerous species in the whole catchment were: roach, bleak and gudgeon. The dominant reproductive guilds were phytophils (8 species) and phytolithophils (6 species). Spirlin, asp, chub and Ukrainian brook lamprey were the only lithophilic species recorded in the whole river system. Most of the Brok River tributaries were strongly human-impacted by channel regulation, while the main channel by pollution. The impact of a water pollution incident observed on 20 July 2010 has significantly influenced the quantitative structure of the fish fauna.
