Identification of Counterproductive Work Behavior in Relation to Sex and Age (a Case Study of the Police Force)

Journal Title: Chorzowskie Studia Polityczne - Year 2017, Vol 14, Issue

Abstract

The authors undertake to delineate the degree to which employees are capable of identifying counterproductive behaviors in the workplace. The central goal of their research was to find out whether there exists a relationship between the respondents’ sex or age and their perception of counterproductive behaviors in a highly distinctive professional environment that the police force certainly is. The chapter is of both theoretical and empirical character. First, a secondary analysis is offered focusing on literature on conducts affecting worker productivity. Then a primary analysis is carried out on empirical data – respondent opinions collected in June 2017 through a Web-based survey questionnaire (CAWI examination). The research findings support the proposition that, at least to a certain extent, the perception of counterproductive behavior at work is dependent on employees’ sex and age.
