Idiostyle of a Writer as a Linguistic Phenomenon and Its Study Methods

Abstract
In the course of the research, it has been found out that the term of idiostyle is more modern than the term of individual style as it possesses a wider linguistic meaning and includes not only a unique linguistic style but also a reflection of the author’s perception of the world in the language of their works. "Idiolect" is understood by researchers as a constituent of idiostyle and includes specific features of the author’s language. Taking into consideration the content of the generalized notion of idiostyle and the advantages and disadvantages of the analyzed models of idiostyle study, the article has offered its own algorithm consisting of the following steps: 1) study of the main literary features of writer’s works and basic biographic facts for the preliminary selection of the concepts which can be verbalized in their works; 2) computer-based processing of author’s texts to find frequent lexical units; 3) classification of vocabulary by denotative spheres (thematic groups); selection of key words representing artistic concepts; 4) description of the structure of artistic concepts and determination of relations between them; 5) comparison of the linguistic representation of writer’s concepts with the representation of the same concepts in the works of other contemporary writers or representatives of the same literary direction; 6) analysis of the use of linguistic and stylistic means on different linguistic levels, determination of their role in the linguistic picture of the world of the writer.
