IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES IN BRAZIL: an analysis on schooling, curriculum and inclusion

Abstract
In Brazil, immigrants and refugees have encountered difficulties in guaranteeing their rights, including the right to basic education and higher education. The general aim of this article is to analyze the characteristics of the formal education of immigrants and refugees in Brazil, from basic educationto higher education. The specific objectives are to present a literature review of the academic production regarding the schooling of immigrant children in Brazil and to discuss solutions that allow the access, permanence and revalidation of diploma for immigrants in public universities in Brazil. The methodology used was the literature review of articles, theses and dissertations that discuss this theme, as well as the analysis of resolutions and laws on education of immigrants in Brazilian public universities. The theoretical framework isbased on researchers of cultural studies. The results demonstrate the existence of few academic works on the schooling of immigrants and refugees in Brazilian territory. Regarding the access to higher education, therehas been an improvement in the inclusion of these foreigners in Brazilian institutions in recent years.
