Immigration from Ukraine as a Source of Labour Supply in Poland
Journal Title: Zeszyty Naukowe Wyższej Szkoły Bankowej w Poznaniu - Year 2017, Vol 74, Issue 3
Abstract
Given the exceptionally low levels of the unemployment rate recently, Polish employers increasingly report problems with finding employees. In this situation it is immigrants, usually from Ukraine, who have become a new source of labour force. With this in mind, the author reports results of a study aimed at determining the number of immigrants, identifying their characteristics and the prospects of immigration in the years to come. The article focuses on specific factors that drive immigrants out of Ukraine and attract them to Poland. The results suggest that in the nearest future the temporary supply of labour from Ukraine will remain at the level of one million people.
