Implantation important stage in the development of pregnancy

Journal Title: Ginekologia i Położnictwo medical project - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 37

Abstract

The paper presents the process of embryo implantation in the uterus. Successful implantation depends on the correct dialogue between the embryo and decidua. The factors of its failure include aneuploidy and metabolic disorders of embryos. These factors are discussed by presenting the hypothesis of “quiet embryos.” Among hormonal factors responsible for the decidualization of the endometrium, the following were emphasized: the role of the corpus luteum, progesterone, prolactin, relaxin and chorionic gonadotropin as well as corpus luteum insufficiency. When discussing the morphological features of the decidua, macrophages, the process of angiogenesis and pinopodes were indicated. Embryo implantation and its failure are significant issues in reproductive medicine.
