IMPORTANCE OF ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS FROM PLANTS IN PRESENT SCENARIO: A REVIEW

Abstract

Since, human existence on earth, plants are being used for the treatment of various diseases. The specific uses of plants are mentioned in the traditional system of medicines like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, etc. Now a day’s plants are getting more important as medicines because plants are having fewer side effects, cost-effective, long effective life span and safe, etc. The present review covers the brief history of antimicrobials and list of plants as antimicrobials, approved, and banned antimicrobial drugs. In the present scenario, the use of herbal drugs is increasing progressively worldwide. Hence, this review shows useful data for researchers to develop new anti-microbials from plant origin.
