IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCY OF METAL CHIP WASHING PROCESS FROM LUBRICATING AND COOLING LIQUIDS BY CLEANSING SOLUTION

Abstract

Purpose. Metal chip forming during parts machining is a valuable raw material both for the metallurgical industry, and powder metallurgy. But its further processing is impossible without qualitative washing from the residuals of lubricating and cooling liquids (LCL), which are used in the working by stock removal. The purpose of the work is to study the process of metal chips treatment using ultrasonic vibrations to intensify the washing process; the determination of optimal technological parameters (the oil content on the metal chips, cleaning solutions) and the modes of cleaning (washing time, concentration and temperature of the cleaning solution); installation of the type of cleaning solution, which will provide the most efficient washing process. Methodology. In the course of experimental research, the method of planning a multivariable experiment has been used. The process of washing the metal chips with its intensification by ultrasonic vibrations was carried out on the ultrasonic device УЗДН-А. As an LCL the oil І20 and emulsion ЕТ2 have been used. Dimer, lamomid, soda ash were studied as a cleaning solution. In the development of mathematical models, a procedure for statistical processing of data relative to a nonlinear model has been performed with its subse-quent verification of the adequacy of the physical process. Results. The mathematical models of metal chips washing processes from LCL for cleaning solutions of dimer, labomid and soda ash have been obtained. The influence of oil content on the metal chips, concentration and temperature of the cleaning solution on the degree of metal chips cleaning for the cleaning solutions under investigation has been studied and analyzed. The results of the conducted studies are presented graphically in the form of response surfaces. Originality. It was first established that with the increase in the concentration of cleaning solution the degree of its washing increases, and reaching a certain further concentration, its increase does not have significant effect on the washing degree. The stay time of metal chips in the cleaning solution under the washing process intensification with ultrasonic fluctuations does not affect the cleaning process. The optimal concentration for all investigated cleaning solutions is 15–20 %. The optimum operating temperature of metal chips treatment for dimer is 20–30 °С, labomid – 70–80 °С, solution of soda ash – 80–90 °С. It has been found that using ultra-sonic cleaning the application of labomid is not appropriate due to its high foam formation. The dimer provides the most efficient washing process. Practical value. The results can be recommended for metal chips washing of various structural carbon steel grades and non-ferrous metals. References 11, tables 1, figures 9.
