In-vitro Antioxidant Activity of Garhwal Himalaya Medicinal Plant Pholidota articulate

Journal Title: World Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 9

Abstract

The present study was performed to evaluate antioxidant activity of P.articulata. The air dried powdered plant material was extracted with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and methanol and concentrated using rotary evaporator. The methanolic extract of P.articulata and ethyl acetate fraction had significant scavenging effects with increasing concentration in the range of 100-400μg/ml. The scavenging activity of methanolic extract of P.articulata and ethyl acetate reached 82.09 %and 81.89% respectively. The methanolic extract showed significant antioxidant activity as compared to ethyl acetate and petroleum ether extract.
