Incidence of Education and Communication in the Conservation of the Tinigua National Natural Park (Colombia)

Journal Title: RHS-Revista Humanismo y Sociedad - Year 2023, Vol 11, Issue 1

Abstract

In this research, the author determined some aspects of incidence of the processes and interventions of education and communication in conservation, developed in the Tinigua National Natural Park in the period 2016-2020. A qualitative methodology was used to know the perception of the strategic actors of the territory regarding the incidence of environmental education processes in which they have participated, through the application of a semi-structured survey to a sample of 30 people. As a result, a wide coverage of the educational processes in urban areas outside the protected area was observed, with a thematic content that was very well adjusted to the conservation objectives. However, their coverage in the educational centers of the protected area was low. The traditional technical language and script of conservation is not enough to break into the anchor points of rural social communication networks. Such language does not transcend behavioral and attitudinal schemes and its incidence in the framework of two-way communication and continuing education is low. The violence that still persists in the study area, in the current post-conflict stage, affects the necessary community participation in the joint construction and implementation of education strategies for nature conservation.
