Incisional hernia repair in a rural hospital

Abstract

Incisional hernia is a common problem. It occurs after laparotomy for various reasons. There are various predisposing factors and causes leading to incisional hernia. Mesh repair is the best option of treatment with good results and minimal complications. This is a retrospective study of 37 cases of incisional hernia operated in the Indian Institute of Medical Science and Research, Warudi. Mesh repair was done in most of the cases with few exceptions. Recurrence after repair is uncommon.
