Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 47

Abstract

It is possible to claim that values have an important role in management when the fact that they are shaped around the cultural structure of a society is considered, and the fact that organizations are open systems influenced by the structure of the society are considered together. This important role of values in organizations is also observed in educational institutions. This situation is especially important when it is considered in terms of the educational institutions that serve the students at development and adulthood periods. This study has the purpose of investigating the “values” and “management with values” in terms of educational institutions. Instead of including the managers and educators in educational institutions, the sampling of this study was formed with students who received the services in order to measure the perception of university students on “management with values” and on individual and organizational values. The study was conducted on 602 students who studied in Adıyaman University, Besni Vocational High School, and who participated in the questionnaire voluntarily. The Cronbach Alpha Coefficients of the scales used in the study was 0,984 for individual values; 0,981 for organizational values; 0,886 for the management with values concept; and it may be claimed that these coefficients were at high reliability levels. It was determined in the study that the perception of the participants on “Honesty”, which is one of the individual values, was at the highest level; and the perceptions of them on “Money” was at the lowest level; and their perceptions on “Creativity”, which is one of the organizational values, was at the highest level; and on “Independence” at the lowest level. It was also determined that the Management with Values Scale varied only in gender, which is one of the demographic variables.
