Influence of cellulose ethers on providing reological properties of alkaline aluminosilicate binders

Abstract

The interaction of the operation environment and building construction materials occurs in the contact zone «environment – material». In the presence of aggressive substances, the speed of interaction processes increases with their penetration into the body of the material and with an increase in the area of interaction, therefore, protecting the surface in contact with the aggressive environment is the main task of materials science. To ensure the conditions of structure formation of protective coatings, their mortar mixture should have optimal filling, sufficient mobility, high thixotropy and water-holding capacity. The processes of structure formation of coatings occur at the stages of its mixing, coating on the base and hardening. The cracking of coatings at these stages is due to shrinkage deformations due to evaporation of water and absorption by its base. Therefore, the purpose of this work was to study the effect of various types of cellulose ethers on the providing of the rheological properties of alkaline aluminosilicate binders and mortar mixtures based on them. The article contains a literature review and analysis of the problem of ensuring the rheological properties of mortar mixes based on alkaline aluminosilicate binders. A study is presented on the effect of various types of cellulose ethers on mobility and water holding capacity of mortar mixes. A scientific analysis was carried out and the interrelation between the chemical stability of ethers in a high alkaline medium and the provision of water-holding capacity of mortar mixtures based on alkaline binders was confirmed. The optimal amount of cellulose ether in the composition of coatings based on alkaline aluminosilicate binders, which provides the rheological properties and water-holding capacity of their mortar mixture, is determined. Further studies will focus on optimizing the composition of the protective coating for concrete based on an alkaline aluminosilicate binder and determining its performance properties.
