Inhibition of K562 cell proliferation by cartilage polysaccharide with different relative molecular mass

Abstract

In order to study the proliferation of chronic myegenous leukemia(K562) treated by different relative molecular mass cartilage polysaccharide(sc-PS), cartilage extract was precipitated by ethanol with different concentration. Different relative molecular mass polysaccharides were collected. Then concentration and molecular mass of them were studied by SDS-PAGE; MTT method was used to test the proliferation of cells treated by sc-PS, and agarose gel electrophoresis was used to detect the characteristic of DNA. The results show that the growth of K562 cells is inhibited obviously by sc-PS, which in a dose-dependent, DNA ladder could be observed apparently in agarose gel electrophoresis.
