Innovations in the formation of foreign language competence

Abstract

Modern pedagogical technologies such as training in cooperation, project methodology, the use of new information technologies, Internet resources help to realize the person-oriented approach in teaching, provide individualization and differentiation of education, taking into account the abilities of students, their level of training. Currently, priority is given to communication, interactivity, authenticity of communication, language learning in a cultural context, autonomy and humanization of learning. The main goal of studying a foreign language at a university is the formation of communicative competence, all other goals (educational, developing) are realized in the process of implementing this main goal. The ultimate goal of teaching foreign languages is to teach free orientation in a foreign language environment and the ability to adequately respond in different situ-ations, i.e. communication. Teaching the true language, the Internet helps in the formation of skills and conversational skills, as well as in teaching vocabulary and grammar, providing genuine interest and, therefore, efficiency. To teach communication in a foreign language, you need to create real life situations (the principle of authenticity of communication), which will stimulate the study of the material and develop adequate behaviour. The use of the Internet in communicative approach cannot be better motivated: its goal is to motivate learners to learn a foreign language by accumulating and expanding their knowledge and experience. Interactivity is “the unification, coordination and complementarity of efforts of a communicative goal and result by speech means”.Communicative approach – a strategy that simulates communication, aimed at creating psychological and linguistic readiness for communication, consciously comprehend the material and ways of dealing with it. Technology of cooperation, method of projects, language portfolio belong to modern technologies.In my opinion, project teaching is relevant because it teaches students cooperation, and training in cooperation fosters such moral values as mutual assistance and empathy, shapes creative abilities and activates trainees.The language portfolio fulfils along with the pedagogical function the social function as well. The six-level language proficiency system, which is fully in line with the European standards, is the reliable basis for the development of unified requirements for the certification of students language training.
