INSTITUTION REFERENDUM IN UZBEKISTAN

Abstract
Subject of the article is a referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan which is a nationwide vote of citizens over the most important issues of society and the state to adopt laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other decisions. Decisions adopted in a referendum, have a higher legal force and may be amended or supplemented only by referendum. Referendum on par with the elections is a way to direct expression of the will of the people. The referendum takes place throughout the Uzbekistan. The legal basis for the institution of the referendum produces primarily the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Law “On the Referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan”. The right to participate in the referendum is one of the ways of direct participation of citizens of Uzbekistan in deciding matters of society and the state.
