INTERNATIONAL LEGAL PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT FROM THE EFFECTS OF MILITARY CONFLICTS: PROBLEMS OF EFFICIENCY

Abstract
This article represents the review of the international legal instruments aimed to ensure the protection of the environment from the devastating effects caused by armed conflicts. The attention is drawn to the objective and subjective factors that weaken the efficiency of international legal environmental regulations. The attempt is implemented to find the effective mechanisms for international legal protection of the environment from dangerous effects of hostilities, implementation of international legal environmental instruments and impact of international organizations on separate states that violate the international legal principles. The emphasize is made on the necessity to identify the common interests of mankind and the environment to the interests of separate states.
