Interprofessional education in medical professions – does it make sense? Review of the literature

Abstract

The paper is a review of world literature taking issues of interprofessional education of students of different fields of medicine, pharmacy and health sciences: nursing, physiotherapy and dietetics. We analyzed the literature published in the last 10 years in scientific journals indexed in world literature databases: PubMed, ProQuest, SCOPUS, EMBASE. The paper presents the current state of knowledge on the mutual perceptions of students of medicine and related health sciences representing the directions of medical and clinical effectiveness of interprofessional workshops or scientific meetings. The paper presents current directions of development and improvement of education programs at university of medicine and health sciences in the area of interprofessional education and raising the quality of education in these fields of study.
