Investigating Temporal Changes of Infiltration in Furrow Irrigation of Sugarcane Fields
Journal Title: Journal of Drought and Climate change Research (JDCR) - Year 2023, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
The climate change, the intensity and continuity of drought periods, will affect the frequency of its occurrence in the coming decades. Iran is one of the countries that suffered the most damage from drought. Soil infiltration, which is very important in the design and management of furrow irrigation, changes over time. This issue will have a great impact on the irrigation efficiency. The purpose of this research is to investigate the temporal changes of the parameters of the Kostiakov-Lewis infiltration equation in furrow irrigation of sugarcane plant. The values of inflow, outflow and advance time were measured during 4 irrigation in 6 repetitions. The infiltration parameters were estimated using the advance time data and the hydrograph of the inflow and outflow using volume balance method. The results showed that there are significant temporal changes between the average values and the values of the coefficients of the Kostiakov-Lewis infiltration equation in each irrigation and the maximum change was related to the first irrigation, so that the range of parameter a changes in the range of 0.59 - 0.09 and the maximum value was related to the first irrigation, the range of changes in parameter k were observed in the range of 0.90 - 0.25, the highest of which was observed in the second irrigation. The average of f0 were equal to 7.333* 10-5 m^3/m.min with a CV of 16%. The results showed that the trend of time changes of infiltration parameters is not constant and more research is needed in this field.

A Brief Overview on the Problems of Greenhouse Owners in Khorramabad, Iran, Over 2020-2021
In recent years, greenhouse production in Khorramabad, Iran, has suffered severely from problems such as the Corona pandemic, declining average annual rainfall, and severe inflation. On the other hand, the greenhouse dev...
Measuring Discharge in a Shallow River in an Arid Area solely using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have recently been applied for river flow measurement. In this paper UAV images were first used to acquire surface velocity fields of a small river in an arid area in Iran based on the pri...
Spatial and Temporal Analysis of Groundwater Level, Flow Direction and Unit Hydrograph of the Kahorestan Plain Aquifer Abstrac
In the ecosystem of dry and semi-dry areas such as Iran, groundwater is considered as the main source of water supply. Currently, excessive exploitation has put these vital resources at risk of destruction. Therefore, in...
Multitemporal Analysis of Drought in Iran: Monitoring and Evaluation of Spatial and Temporal Characteristics Using MODIS Indices
This study identified and described drought using multiple MODIS-based indicators, so the temporal-spatial characteristics of the intensity and frequency of drought in the entire country in the period from 2001 to 2021 u...
A biophysical Approach to Assess the Risks Associated with Climate Change for Spatial Analysis of Agricultural Drought Vulnerability
Global warming has led to changes in climate variability and different characteristic of consequence extreme events. Recently, the study of compound extremes, defined as the co-occurrence of multiple events with extreme...
