Investigation of Feasible Gonadotoxic Effect of Cockerel Birds Exposed to Crude Oil Contaminated Feed

Journal Title: Journal of Animal Production Advances - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 4

Abstract

The present study investigated the toxic effects of crude oil on the gonads of cockerel birds. The cockerel birds were exposed to graded levels of crude oil of 0, 5,10,15, 20ml per kg of feed respectively for a period of 12 weeks. At the end of the feeding trial period, the birds were sacrificed and the testis were collected and studied for histopathology. The histological examination of testis showed deformities in morphology of testis in test birds with gross damage within the somniferous tubules.
