Investigation of the expediency of power supply of a high voltage contact network through the converter 6/3 kV

Abstract

The paper is devoted to the problem of applying the converting d. c. voltage method using a high-frequency link to convert a voltage of 6.6 kV to a voltage of 3.3 kV for power supply of electric transport. The description and principle of voltage converter is given. The purpose of research work is to elaborate measures to increase the speed and weight standards of trains, which will facilitate the creation of new electric locomotives of higher power and to develop of a way to raise the d. c. tractive power supply. The scheme of the DC-DC pulsed converter PPN-6 built on IGBT transistors have been de-veloped with input voltage of 6 kV and a nominal input current of 1 kA. It is recommended to use on tractive substations to increase the voltage level in contact network. It is proposed to use IGBT transistors at 5.2 kV and (in experimental order) at 6.5 kV. It is possible to provide a high degree of simplification of the power circuitry of DC converters 6 / 3kV at the using of these de-vices. The methods is estimated for protecting circuits built on IGBT transistors.
