Investigation of the Quality of Silages Prepared from Second Crop Maize (Zea mays L.) Planted at Different Times Under Mardin Ecological Conditions
Journal Title: ISPEC Journal of Agricultural Sciences - Year 2021, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the silage quality of biomass obtained from five different maize varieties grown in different sowing times under Mardin / Kızıltepe second crop conditions. In the trials carried out in the farmer's field in the second crop conditions in 2018-2019 in Köprübaşı Village, sowing was carried out on 25 June, 5 July, 15 July and 25 July. In the research, silage dry matter ratio (26.2-30.0%), silage dry matter yield (1.8-2.9 t da-1), silage crude protein ratio (7.4-8.2%), silage crude protein yield (126-193 kg da-1), silage crude ash ratio (6.8-7.7%), silage crude ash yield (108-220 kg da-1), silage pH value (3.96-4.06), silage DLG score (15.9-17.6 point), silage Fleig score (98.5-103.0 point), silage digestible dry matter ratio (61.8-66.1%), silage dry matter consumption rate (2.34-2.91%), silage relative feed value (112-149), ADF ratio (29.3-34.7%), NDF ratio (41.6-51.5%), silage lactic acid rate (9.8-10.1%) values were determined. According to the results of the research, 15 July planting of DKC6442 variety is recommended for silage quality in Mardin/Kızıltepe conditions.
