Investigation on Biodecolorization and Molecular Fractionation of Melanoidin Pigment using Cladosporium cladosporioides
Journal Title: International Journal of Research in Chemistry and Environment (IJRCE) - Year 2012, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
This study presents the utilization of Cladosporium cladosporioides as potential fungal strain for the decolorization and molecular fractionation of synthetic melanoidin pigment which is a recalcitrant biopolymer. Single factorial experiment was conducted for determining the optimum process parameters by varying concentration of carbon, nitrogen source and concentration of the pigment for achieving maximum decolorization. During the experiment a maximum decolorization of 58.5% was obtained on 6th day with when incubated with an optimum condition of 0.5% (w/v) fructose, 0.25 %(w/v) peptone and 0.5%(w/v) pigment concentration at pH 5 and 30o C. Decolorization and degradation of the pigment was confirmed by Sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) method, Gel filtration chromatography and UV-Spectrophotometer analysis. This investigation could be an approach towards control of environmental pollution & health hazards of rural people

Determination of Diphacinone in Grain Samples by Using Adsorptive Stripping Voltammetry
A sensitive method for the determination of the rodenticide diphacinone by differential adsorptive voltammetry (Dp-AdSV) on a hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE) (pH 6.0) was described. The cyclic voltammograms demonst...
Comparative Study of the Release of Corrosion Products from Stainless Steel Immobilization Wire and Arch Bar during Uniform Attack in Bio-fluids
This study compares the amount of released Co, Fe, Mn, Ni and Cr ions from stainless steel immobilization (SSI) wire and arch bar into five pseudo- and actual- bio-fluids of varying pH and chloride ion level, under vario...
Effect of Volcanic Eruptions on Stratospheric warming events
For many years, climatologists have noticed a connection between large explosive volcanic eruptions and short term climatic change. At first, scientists thought that the dust emitted into the atmosphere from large volcan...
Assessment of Ground Water Quality of Salem Taluk in Salem District, Tamil Nadu, India
A few ground water samples of Salem Taluk were analyzed for their physico-chemical parameters including fluoride content. The water samples were collected during pre-monsoon (June-July 2010) and post-monsoon (Dec 201...
