Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2023, Vol 13, Issue 10
Abstract
Remote learning was implemented in the Philippines and other countries as a safety measure against COVID-19. This phenomenological study looked into students' experiences during remote learning through a semi-structured interview. Participants were identified by a needs assessment survey that was disseminated to Philippine Science High School - Ilocos Region Campus (PSHS-IRC) students from seventh to ninth grade using a homogeneous purposive sampling technique. Eight qualified participants were interviewed. The interviews were then transcribed and analyzed using cool and warm analysis. Three themes were identified from the analysis, namely: online learning is difficult, parental involvement in students' academic learning, and hobbies and coping mechanisms. Remote learning has been difficult for students, yet, it became easier with their parents' involvement, as well as, with their various coping mechanisms.
