Jan Paweł II a Matka Boża Fatimska

Journal Title: Studia Salvatoriana Polonica - Year 2016, Vol 10, Issue

Abstract

The ties of Karol Wojtyła – Pope John Paul II with the message of Fatima are dynamic. They developed in his life implicitly through suffering which he experienced during his youth and later in his priestly and episcopal ministry. This suffering reached its apogee on May 13, 1981, when, contrary to human logic, the assassination attempt on St. Peter’s square fell through. John Paul II considered saving his life as an obvious miracle and the fulfilment of the Fatima prophecies. As Pope John Paul II he went to Fatima on several pilgrimages. In 1982, to express his gratitude for saving his life; in 1982, to ask for the commands of the message of Fatima to be fulfilled, in 1991, as a thanksgiving for the demise of Communist ideology in Central and Eastern Europe, and in 2000, as a farewell. John Paul II documented his deep, personal relationship with the Mother of God and with Her epiphany of Fatima with a few liturgical acts of consecration of the world, and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, of which the most significant took place on 25 March, 1984, in the presence of the statue brought to Vatican from Fatima. After that Act radical events took place in the international politics, limiting the promotion of Communist totalitarianism. A clear sign of the ties of John Paul II with the mother of God of Fatima can be seen in the bullet that went through his body during the coup. It was then integrated in the Crown of the wonderful Figure of Fatima. This relationship was built on the „suffering of Pope”, clearly marked in the message of Fatima. This is also the basis for the interpretation of the third secret of Fatima, announced in 2000: suffering and penance summarize the secret of Fatima. John Paul II became a servant and witness to this secret.
