Kasata zakonu jezuitów w polskiej historiografii XX wieku i w początkach XXI wieku

Abstract
The dissolution of the Jesuit Order ceased the dynamic development of the Jesuit education in Poland. Already then, this event aroused controversy. As early as in the 18th century, in some poems, their authors were discussing the political aspects of the dissolution, and in the archives of the Jesuit Order, there are numerous resource materials concerning the dissolution. Nonetheless there is no comprehensive and thorough study of the subject. Indeed, in Poland a publication by Stanisław Załęski entitled “The History of the Abolition of the Jesuit Order in Poland and Its Preservation in White Ruthenia”, (Polish: Historya zniesienia jezuitów w Polsce i ich zachowanie na Białej Rusi) appeared in 1875, yet in the subsequent years, there were few scientific publications referring to the issue of the dissolution. The subject of the dissolution usually coincided with celebrating of subsequent anniversaries of the creation of The Commission of National Education (Polish: Komisja Edukacji Narodowej abbreviated as KEN). The authors of commemorative publications usually mentioned the fact that it was the dissolution of the Order that made the creation of KEN possible. Nevertheless they failed to devote much more attention to the event itself. On the 200th anniversary of the creation of The Commission of National Education, ideological approach to the Jesuit Order can be observed. Moreover, researchers of the period of The Polish People's Republic (Polish: Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa, abbreviated as PRL) assess the Jesuit monks’ attitude to the reform as unwilling. They emphasise unfavourable attitudes towards the achievements of The Commission of National Education In recent years, a change has been observed. Researchers attempt to remain objective while evaluating attitudes of particular monks, yet, which seems essential, they clearly emphasise that without the dissolution, the reform of the entire contemporary education would not have taken place. An analysis of the literature concerning the subject matter indicates that in the Polish historiography of the 20th and 21st century, most of the publications merely mention the dissolution of the Jesuit Order while investigating different subjects for instance the origin or / and achievements of The Commission of National Education.
