КОЛПОЛТЕРСЬКА ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ АДВЕНТИСТІВ СЬОМОГО ДНЯ НА ГАЛИЧИНІ ТА ВОЛИНІ (1918-1939)

Abstract
У статті дано визначення терміну «колполтер». Висвітлено становище та діяльність колполтерського відділлу адвентистів сьомого дня на Галичині та Волині з 1918 по 1939 роки. Доведено, на основі архівних даних, що колполтерство на території Західної України в період II Речі Посполитої було одним із засобів поширення адвентиських культових ідей. The article studies the Adventist colporteur activity in the interwar period in the Western Ukraine, the territory which at that time was a part of the Second Polish Republic. In the article the explanation of the term "colporteur" is given. Also, the article deals with the status and activities of colporteur department of the Seventh Day Adventist communities in Galicia and Volyn from 1918 to 1939. It is proved based on archival data that the colporteurship in the Western Ukraine during the II Commonwealth of Poland was a means of spreading of the Adventist religious ideas. The Adventist religious ideas came to the territory of Ukraine in the beginning of the XX century. The article traces the activity of the colporteurs, which was one of the missionary strategies of the Seventh Day Adventists Church at that time through which the Adventists spread their influence and teaching. The data shows that the population of Galicia and Volyn was interested in religious issues and was loyal to the Adventist missionaries in spite of the fact that according to the legislation of the II Commonwealth of Poland, the distribution of the printed literature was illegal and promotion of the Adventist ideas was prohibited in Galicia-Volyn territories. The paper describes the statistical data on the performance of the colporteurs (book sellers) in Galicia and Volyn. The names of the colporteurs, their leaders and their working reports were discovered among archival materials and analized in the paper. This data shows the number of days they spent distributing books and the numbers of the sold items. Based on this data it is possible to conclude that the Adventist colporteurs activity was very important for establishing the organizational structure of the church and for emergence of the new Adventist communities on the new territories. The analysis shows that namely due to the colporteur activity, the Adventism significantly spread on the territory of the Second Commonwealth of Poland, especially in Galicia and Volyn
