Konfigüral Frekans Analizi ve İntihardaki 10 Yıllık Değişimin İncelenmesi
Journal Title: Eurasian Journal of Family Medicine - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study is to introduce a cell-based method, Configural Frequency Analysis, and evaluate subcategories of variables; sex, age and the way of suicide in suicides that result in deaths in Turkey, cell by cell. Methods: Configural Frequency Analysis used for categorical data analysis, deals with the observed and expected frequencies in each cell separately, therefore seeks statistically significant deviations for each cell. In this study, the used suicide mortality data of the Turkish Statistical Institute suicide database, for the years 2004 and 2014. Results: According to the results, in 2004, males aged 55-64 years and over the age of 75 tend to use the hanging method to suicide, males in the 25-34 age group shows a tendency towards committing suicide using firearms. While males in the age group 15-24, giving up from committing suicide by poisoning themselves, females over the age of 25, who tended to commit suicide using firearms, relinquished this method by exhibiting a behavior contrary to expectations. In the 2014, females under the age of 25, tended to commit suicide by jumping and firearms methods. Females over the age of 35, who formerly tended to commit suicide using firearms, also give up this suicide method unexpectedly. Conclusions: It can be suggested that the Configural Frequency Analysis method, which has the potential to be used in many fields, can also be employed in research concerning suicide and detailed cell based results can be obtained by using it.
