LA MODALISATION VERBALE: ÉTUDE COMPARATIVE

Abstract
Notre propos est de cerner la façon dont une valeur évidentielle peut se forger en se fondant sur l’analyse des propriétés syntaxiques, sémantiques et discursives de trois expressions (faut croire, on dirait et paraît) dont la composition lexicale combine diverses formes modales. Notre analyse montrera que la valeur évidentielle n’est jamais première, mais issue d’une conjonction de facteurs. Ils ont trait (i) au sens de base des verbes avec lesquels ces expressions sont construites, (ii) à la valeur modale qu’elles intègrent, ainsi que (iii) à la valeur confirmative issue de leur possible emploi dialogique.
