Landfill Leachate Degradation by TiO2-Immobilized White Cement
Journal Title: Molekul - Year 2018, Vol 13, Issue 1
Abstract
This report presented the characterisation of white cement and TiO2-immobilised white cement prior and after photodegradation treatment. The study was also aimed at measuring the effectiveness of catalyst that was used during the photodegradation at various different reaction times. The characteristic of the white cement was evaluated by XRD, meanwhile the effectiveness of the catalyst was inferred from COD values. The results indicated that the white cement formed crystals with highest peak at 2ϴ 29.7990° and crystal size of 0.63140 nm. In addition, the highest peak of the TiO2-immobilized white cement before and after photodegradation was 2ϴ 29.4634° (crystal size 0.79209 nm) and 29.4735° (crystal size 0.64061 nm) respectively. Moreover, dissolved organic matter in landfill leachate reduced during the seven-hour photodegradation experiment as indicated by the decrease of 71.43% of the COD values.

The Interaction of Air Pollutant Molecules with Germanene and Silicene: a Density Functional Theory Study
We investigate the adsorption of atmospheric pollutants on germanene and silicene using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. In this study, we use carbon monoxide (CO) and nitric oxide (NO) as the pollutant mole...
The Study of Artemisinin Content in Callus Artemisia annua L. Cultures Elicited with Endophytic Fungi Aspergillus sp.
Artemisinin, is a sesquiterpene lactone which is originally extracted from the medicinal plant Artemisia annua L. Artemisinin is a very effective antimalarial agent, however it is produced in very low amounts in plants....
Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) Substrate of Colloidal Ag Nanoparticles Prepared by Laser Ablation for Ascorbic Acid Detection
Ag nanoparticles were synthesized by laser ablation using an Ag plate in distilled water. This method was performed using a laser with a wavelength of 532 nm and energy of 30 mJ for 60 min. Ag nanoparticles successfully...
