LANDSCAPE IN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

Abstract

For reintegration process, which is characteristic for our century within international geography, projects aiming at phenomenon society-environment in common solu- tion of both physical and human geography are of great importance. an example of such projects, up to now mostly limited to physical geography, are environmental projects. they concern analyses and valuations of the state of human environment (as a certain case can serve a common projects of physical and human geography - Drdoš, Székely, 1994, or environmental assessments according to the Act on environmental impact assessment, at which our geography participate importantly). a particular position in environmental assessment is covered by landscape (with its various properties and structures), which is in Slovak geography understood anthropocentrically, then from the point of view of human interests, what was characteristic for the programmes of Landscape Synthesis (see Drdoš et al., 1980) and landscape Potential (see Mazúr, Drdoš, 1984).
