Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in Situs Inversus and Dextro Cardia - A Case Report
Journal Title: Journal of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
Situs inversus is a morphological anomalies of positioning of internal viscera where in there is reversal of the usual handedness of visceral topography. The reversal may be thoracic, abdominal or both. It is estimated to occur in 1 in 5000- 10,000 population. The variation of the gall bladder in Situs Inversus and Dextro Cardia is seen by its differences in presentation. This leads to difficulties in diagnosis ,further need for adjustment in operative techniques. We report a case of cholelithiasis in Situs Inversus and Dextro Cardia- not a common condition, treated by laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
