Laser Radiation Effects on Adenine
Journal Title: Journal of Nuclear Physics, Material Sciences, Radiation and Applications - Year 2018, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
Laser interaction whit the gas phase nucleobase adenine is studied. A linear TOF mass spectrometer is utilized for measurements that require high mass resolution, high sensitivity, and sufficient ion yields of low mass fragment cations. The ion mass spectra are discussed at different laser energy intensities and two temperatures. In contrast to previous studies a number light ion is present in the mass spectra. The ion formation curves for 23 different ions are measured for the laser energy range from about 109 to 1010 W cm–2 and masses between 1 and 43 besides mass 57 which was present in the mass spectra and will be discuss. Data were taken heating the sample at 235o C. The number of 355nm absorbed photons was calculated accordingly to Keldysh theory and similar results were found using adenine -Ar mixture. Our results are compared with those reported formed by protons, electrons or multiple charged ions interactions. Different ions were found indicating the possible effect of multiphoton absorption.

Radiolysis of Nucleosides: Study of Sedimentary Microenvironment Models for the Protection of Bio-Organic Molecules on Early Earth
Nucleic acid bases and their derivatives are important compounds in biological systems. Many efforts have been made to demonstrate the possible prebiotic origin of these molecules, but the abiotic synthesis of these comp...
Alignment Studies for Tungsten Near L3 Sub-Shell Threshold Via Theoretical, Experimental and Empirical Methods
Alignment studies are made for tungsten near L3 sub-shell threshold using theoretical, experimental and empirical approaches. Experimentally to measure alignment parameter, the angular distribution of L x-rays of tungste...
Enhancement in the Photoluminescence Properties of SiO2:Ge Embedded in a Polymeric Matrix
Polymer films of styrene butadiene copolymer (SBC) mixed with SiO2:Ge powder were successfully obtained by the drop casting method. The SBC concentration (in chloroform solution) was 10%w/v and the SiO2:Ge powder was mix...
Radiolysis of Serine in High Radiation Field
The formation of amino acids under simulated condition suggests that this type of compounds were readily formed on the primitive Earth. Nevertheless, there is no conclusive explanation to the origin of their specific chi...
Theoretical Model to Estimate the Distribution of Radon in Alveolar Membrane Neighborhood
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas which tends to concentrate indoors, easily emanates from the ground into the air, where it disintegrates and emits radioactive particles. It can enter the human body through...
