Level of Occupational Stress among Women Working for the Probation Court Service

Abstract

The article describes selected contexts of social and psychological functioning of women working as probation officers. It touches the issue of work safety and the relationship between work environment and occupational stress. The problem analysis includes research based on women in their occupational role and the relationship between gender and occupational stress. The article presents preliminary results of the research on the subjective level of occupational stress among female probation officers, which may be empirically analyzed in the light of their relationship with organizational and socio-demographic determinants. The results of the study show some alarming data concerning the result distribution on the average level and high level on the overall stress scale, which highlighted significant threats that can consequently lead to health damage and to the creation and development of burnout.
