LEX FUNDAMENTALIS OF A STATE: A LOOK AT THE REFORM OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL SYSTEM IN UKRAINE

Abstract
It is stated that the constitution is a kind of a social contract on which society places high expectations in terms of good governance. It is noted that the concept of constituent power is primary, creating the basis for the constituent power, which has a secondary character: legislative, executive and judicial branches of power. This concept is particularly important for Ukraine, which has gone through several attempts to amend the Constitution. The author analyses some of the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine – in 2004 and 2016. The author considers a constitutional reform of 2016 through the prism of the challenges faced by Ukraine.
