Literature review of the order Ephemeroptera (Insecta) from Chile and first records of mayflies in the Tamarugal (Tarapacá Region), San Antonio and San Felipe de Aconcagua (Valparaíso Region) provinces
Journal Title: REVISTA CHILENA DE ENTOMOLOGÍA - Year 2022, Vol 48, Issue 1
Abstract
The existing literature of the Ephemeroptera species that inhabit Chile is reviewed. The list reveals 47 species, of which 13% are endemic to the country; 66% shared only with Argentina and 21% have a more widespread distribution. The distribution data of the Chilean species is updated in relation to the last catalog of the Chilean mayflies of 2006. The localities are adapted to the regions created after that study (Arica and Parinacota, Los Ríos and Ñuble), based on bibliographic references, comments made in this study and records present in the iNaturalist platform. Furthermore, mayflies are registered for the first time in the provinces of Tamarugal (Tarapacá Region), San Antonio and San Felipe de Aconcagua (Valparaíso Region).
