Journal Title: IOSR Journal of Dental and Medical Sciences (IOSR-JDMS) - Year 2019, Vol 18, Issue 3

Abstract

Chronic dissecting oesophagitis (CDO) is a rare disease, with a previously unknown etiopathogenesis. It can be primitive or secondary and its diagnosis is easily established thanks to an evocative endoscopic aspect, but its treatment remains poorly codified. The purpose of our work is to report nine CDO observations collected in the hepatogastroenterology unit of the University Hospital Center of Fez. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This is a retrospective study (2001-2018) in which nine cases of ODC was collected. The diagnosis was based on a set of clinical and endoscopic criteria. Results: The average age of patients was 45.22 years old. The sex ratio H / F was 0.8. The discovery of esophagitis was established in all patients at the time of the endoscopic examination performed for dysphagia in 77.7% of cases (n = 7) and which was associated with cholangitis in 22.2% (n = 2), a anemic syndrome in 11.1% of cases (n = 1) and with upper gastrointestinal bleeding in one case. Endoscopy revealed the presence of a pseudotracheal aspect in 66.6% of cases (n = 6) with detachment of the esophageal mucosa at the time of biopsies, thus directing the diagnosis in 88.8% of cases (n =8). Conclusion: Dissecting oesophagitis is a rare condition responsible for chronic dysphagia whose diagnosis is based on a set of clinical, endoscopic and histological criteria. However, his treatment remains unclassified.
