Long Non-coding RNAs and their “orchestration” in cancers
Journal Title: Journal of Applied Biology & Biotechnology - Year 2018, Vol 6, Issue 5
Abstract
The behavior of “mysterious” long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) in cells and in cancers is quite fascinating. Their diverse and complex functions have astonished the entire scientific community. LncRNAs are absolutely diversified in nature and can execute a decisive task to regulate the genes in conjunction with developmental processes. They emerged as “key orchestrators” in cancers because of their involvement in cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. In this precise opinion, we first discuss the role of lncRNAs in various processes in the cell, and later, we brief the participation of lncRNAs in cancers with a note on their protein-coding potential.
RNA-Seq analysis reveals influence of sugar level and photoperiod on seasonality in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) sex-specific inflorescence emergence
We induced male inflorescence formation on 162 oil palm trees of 14 years old by complete defoliation. Inflorescence emergence data was analysed within a five-year period. Total RNA was extracted from un-emerged inflores...
Recent Advances in substrate utilization for fermentative hydrogen Production
In many ways, hydrogen is considered to be the ideal fuel for the future. Biohydrogen production processes are considered as the most environmentally friendly in comparison to others. Biological hydrogen production proce...
Statistical optimization of culture conditions for enhanced mycelial biomass production using Ganoderma lucidum
The study aimed at optimizing the mycelial biomass production of Ganoderma lucidum by submerged fermentation. Plackett–Burman design was used to screen the important growth conditions coupled with central composite desig...
Computational identification of miRNAs and their targets from Niger (Guizotia abyssinica)
MicroRNAs play a pivotal role in regulating a broad range of biological processes, acting by cleaving mRNAs or by translational repression. A group of plant microRNAs are evolutionarily conserved; however, others are exp...
Beneficial microbiomes: Biodiversity and potential biotechnological applications for sustainable agriculture and human health
The beneficial microbes plays an important role in medical, industrial, and agricultural processes. The precious microbes belong to different groups including archaea, bacteria, and fungi which can be sort out from diffe...
