Abstract
The periods of the Ukrainian transitional economic system based on key macroeconomic indicators are classified. The following classification of transformation periods is proposed: primary accumulation of capital and transformation crisis (1990- 1995), the beginning of active market transformations (1996-2000), gradual overcoming of the consequences of the transformation crisis and the improvement of market and regulatory institutions (2001-2013), the final period transformation of production relations (2014 till now). The macroeconomic tendencies of the functioning and development of the Ukrainian economy under the conditions of transformation since 1990 till 2015 have been investigated. The results of the analysis proved have that the period of permanent decline and the build-up of the transformation crisis is completely ceased. A stable structure of the economic system has been formed (in the spheres of economic activity, trends in social and demographic statistics, indicators of efficiency and openness of the economy). The specific problems of functioning of modern Ukrainian transformational economic system are determined. Key problems include a significant reduction in recent years of social and demographic indicators (real wages and population), increased inflation, a reduction in industrial production and proportion exports to GDP. However, the irreversibility of structural changes in the economy has created the conditions for the final reform of the productive forces based on the transition to a new technological mode of production.
