Abstract

Main economic and social aspects of Brexit. The unexpected decision of United Kingdom electorate from 23. june 2016 to withdraw from European Union (Brexit) has brought more questions than answers. Therefore we managed to exa-mine the key aspects of Brexit, particularly trade, finance, immigration, national health service and terrorism. The latter is explored via its spatial relationship to Brexit referendum results revealing positive connection between terrorist attacks and pro-European tendencies in regions of the United Kingdom. The further dis-covery we accomplished is based on statistical data analysis of imigration that United Kingdom undeniably benefits from migrant flows out of European Union, which is especially true for national health services. Nevertheless, our main objective is not a comprehensive analysis covering the entire Brexit but rather explanation of selected Brexit issues, which are considered to be crucial from our perspective. Par-ticular emphasis in our study was placed on spatial relations embodied by several pictures showing regional divergence in relation with Brexit.
