Making and properties of magnetron chrome coating for working surface of titanium actuating hydraulic cylinder

Abstract

The application of a magnetron technology with ion-plasma assisting is validated for developing a new technology for nanostructurizated chrome coating on the working surfaces of titanium hydraulic cylinders instead of a galvanic technology for solid chrome coating. An experimental practice for chrome coating on prototypes of parts is developed. Mechanical characteristics of the coating obtained are studied. It is shown that mechanical characteristics of coating, based on the magnetron technology with energetic assisting, are significantly surpassed the corresponding characteristics of galvanic solid chrome coating. The results obtained are useful in improving a technological base of aircraft machine-building and an engineering level of landing gears for the An family of aircrafts.
