MANAGEMENT OF PATIENTS WITH ACUTE — TOXICO-ALLERGIC REACTION: ANALYSIS OF CLINICAL EXPERIENCE WITH PRESENTATION OF A SERIOUS CLINICAL CASE

Journal Title: Астма и Аллергия - Year 2019, Vol 1, Issue 2

Abstract

The article summarizes data on the etiology, pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of acute toxico-allergic reactions (ATAR). The analysis of the management of patients with this pathology in the Dnipro Allergological Center is presented. Over 5 years, 40 patients were treated, all were discharged, there were no deaths. A clinical case of ATAR induced by lamotrigine with manifestations of Lyell's syndrome and neuroleptic malignant syndrome is presented. ATAR is severe manifestation of drug allergy, which occurs due to the underestimation of the allergic history of the patient before taking medication. The first sym ptoms of ATAR associated with lamotrigine are the appearance of a rash and swollen lymph nodes, which requires immediate discontinuation of drugs. Patients with ATAR III–IV degree must be admitted immediately to the intensive care unit.
