Abstract
Objecive: The objective of this paper is to review the more recent literature on vault prolapse. Background: An understanding of the published literature is important in deciding, which surgical approach has to be used and how to counsel patients during informed consent. Findings: In this review, we analyzed the various interventions for vault prolapse and provided also a survey of the current controversies and areas where knowledge is incomplete and need further evaluation for definitive answers regarding optimization of care for vault prolapse. Conclusion: Management should be individualised, taking into consideration the surgeon's experience, patient's age, comorbidities, previous surgery and the level of physical and sexual activity.
