Journal Title: Ankara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi - Year 2013, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
In sociology, as both the researcher and the subject being examined are historical and cultural things, this makes the objectivity quite crucial and to take place in an important methodological discussions. In that direction, toward the answer given to the question "how would the subjective judgements gain an objective validity", different groupings have been formed in scociology and every researcher was in the aim to resolve that problem with their own paradigm. In sociology, the two groups which correspond to especially positivism-hermeneutic duality axis and present different description styles to examine the social environment, have evaluated objectivity in terms of its methodology from different perspectives. In our study, the main arguments of both movements have been pointed out by the leading names of these movements and the question that which of the objectivity perspectives have a convenient application facility in the nature of sociology? is tried to be answered. In that aim, his resolution techniques on the problem of objectivity and the distinct side of Weber, who stands as a bridge between the two opposite paradigms, have been discussed. Moreover, the distinct side of Weber together with how he comes over the problems related to objectivity issue in sociology, which the other resolution proposes can not solve, are examined and the stronger sides are tried to be shown.
