Measuring students' mental health on the basis of using computer games

Abstract

The aim of the present research was to compare the mental health of the students that played computer games with students who didn't play these games. The statistical population of the research included all the students at the junior school level of the city of Saghez who were majoring in the educational year of 2012-2013. The sample size of 300 male second and third grade students at the junior school level was selected through multi stage cluster sampling and then through simple random sampling .To collect data the 28- question general mental health questionnaire (GHQ) was used. The t test was also applied to analyze data. Findings revealed that there was a difference in all four mental health scales (Physical symptoms, anxiety, disorder in social functions and depression) between normal students and the students who were playing computer games.
