Mechanical Properties ofPoly Lactic Acid:An Accelerated Destructive Degradation Test
Journal Title: American journal of Engineering Research - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 9
Abstract
Research in renewable products with the potential to replace fossilized matter as raw materials for energy and materials use is at the forefront of modern science and engineering. Materials (i.e., Poly lactic acid) have been researched by industry and academia showing great interest in the degradation process typically represented by degradation models. The accuracy of these models is a complex task to accomplish. It requires the quantification of the degradation rate of the materials with different variables. In this paper, tensile testing is used to characterize the lifetime of PLA material. Over 60 specimens were manufactured under ASTM standard, followed by 2,000 hours of accelerated destructive degradation testing. The results demonstratea significant statistical effectin the mechanical properties of the material. The variables that made adifference on the degradation rate weretemperature, humidity rate, UV light.

Mathematical Model of Biological Oxygen Demand in Facultative Wastewater Stabilization Pond Based on Two-Dimensional Advection-Dispersion Model
I n this paper, we use the two dimensional advection-dispersion model for biological oxygen demand (BOD) assessment in facultative wastewater stabilization pond. This two dimensional model refers to the width and the len...
Assessing the Laboratory Safety And Security Skills Among Science Technology And Mathematics (Stm) Teachers in Sokoto State, Nigeria
The paper, assessing the laboratory safety and security skills among science technology and mathematics (STM) teachers in Sokoto State examines STM teachers skills in the state of the art procedures and practices. Descri...
Application of Orthogonal Collocation Method to Fluidised Bed Electrochemical Reactor Models
mathematical model is presented to describe the behaviour of a three-dimensional fluidized bed electrode operating under the condition of electron transfer. The model is simulated numerically by applying orthogonal collo...
