MENTALITY AS A CATEGORY OF SOCIAL PHILOSOPHY AND ITS METHODOLOGICAL ROLE

Abstract
The article gives an analysis of genesis of mentality as a category in the works of West European thinkers, its role in the development of historical and social-philosophical thoughts. It outlines relations of the category “mentality” with other categories, which reveal phenomena similar by meaning. It defines the role of category “mentality” for studies of society development.
