Methodology for efficiency improvement in warehouses: a case study from the winter sports equipment industry
Journal Title: Proceedings in Manufacturing Systems - Year 2018, Vol 13, Issue 3
Abstract
The paper considers a methodology for efficiency improvement in warehouses. The methodology is developed for the needs of the winter sports equipment division of Amer Sports Corporation. Key aspects of the methodology are the concept development of balanced scorecard for the distribution logistics and the application of lean methods in the warehouse. The main criteria for evaluation of the warehouse processes are examined. The paper presents the implementation of balanced scorecard as a tool for logistics processes and costs monitoring and management decisions in the Amer Sports distribution center for winter sports equipment. The application of the lean methods in the warehouse are also discussed. The paper presents also the improvements achieved by applying the methodology in the warehouse.

Profiling of the planing tool for cycloidal worms machining – CAD method versus analitycal method
Cycloidal worms are helical-cylindrical surfaces, having a constant pitch. They are used in helical pumps construction, usually as driving screws. This paper introduces a new method for profiling a helical-cylindrical su...
Mechanical strength test of train wheel based on virtual prototyping
Virtual prototyping becomes more and more a less-expensive alternative of physical mockups. Its applicability to product certification procedures is already included in several standards where it is possible to replace c...
Validation of forward geometric models for ABB robots using virtual models and the software applications CATIA and ABB Robot Studio
This paper presents the working steps for the validation of the forward geometric models of ABB industrial robots (IR) using their virtual models (CAD models) along with CATIA and ABB RobotStudio software applications. A...
SPECIAL INTERNAL WORM GEAR PAIRS WITH HELLICAL WORM
The internal worm gear pairs are special ones, which are composed by a helical worm and an internal teeth worm wheel. In the case of internal worm gear pairs, when the internal teeth worm wheel are manufactured by a wo...
Dynamic simulation of industrial robots behaviour using integrated software procedures
The paper presents a research regarding the dynamic behavior of an industrial robot during operation. The main target of the attempt was to primarily test a set of software applications in a combination used in the autom...
