Methods for Determining the Extent of Corruption in the private sphere of Ukraine

Abstract
The article considers the main aspects of the state of development of methods for determining the extent of corruption in the private sphere of Ukraine. It is analyzed what can be qualified as corruption in the private sphere. Corruption crime in the private sphere is divided, as a rule, into: corruption and illegal actions that are committed against legal entities of the private sphere; bribery-sale within the company; using private commercial structures by employees to obtain improper benefits. It should be borne in mind that the indicators, characterizing manifestations of corruption in the private sphere, are not stable, they are systematically modified. It is emphasized that the methodology of criminological research is a set of methods, means, techniques and tools used for collecting, processing and analyzing criminological information, determined by specific objectives and goals of the study. Criminology widely uses general scientific, statistical, sociological, psychological, mathematical, cybernetic methods and research techniques. At the same time, it was noted that, unfortunately, in Ukraine, as in most other countries of the world, the main methods of research and determination of corruption acts are sociological ones of mass polling in the form of questioning and interviewing. It was emphasized that in the framework of the international technical assistance project “Support for diagnosis, monitoring and prosecution of corruption in Ukraine”, together with the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine, NACP developed and approved in January 2017 the Methodology of a standard survey on the level of corruption in Ukraine. It is concluded that the real extent of the spread of corruption in our country, especially in the private sphere, can be determined only in the census by interviewing all citizens of the country.
