Microhabitats of Leaf-Dwelling Pholcid Spiders (Araneae: Pholcidae) in Mount Mupo, Marawi City, Philippines
Journal Title: Journal of Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences (JBES) - Year 2016, Vol 8, Issue 4
Abstract
Microhabitat utilization is an important factor for species diversification. This study examined the microhabitat utilization of leaf-dwelling pholcids. The occurrence of 241 collected samples showed different degrees of plant occupancy as evaluated by Bodenheimer Constancy: Schismatoglottis sp. (constant; 51.25%), Homalomena philippinensis (accessory; 25%), Curculigo latifolia (rare; 11.86%), Aglaonema sp. (rare; 11.25%) and dicot seedling, Dillenia megalantha (rare; 0.63%). Concentration of Relative Dominance (CRD) of leaf-dwelling pholcids per plant species showed that Schismatoglottis sp. had the highest percentage (48.96%). Analysis of foliar parameters indicated certain level of association with the occurrence of leaf-dwelling pholcids. Chi-square test showed that there is a significant association between Schistomaglottis sp. and dicot seedling, Dillenia megalantha.

Nuclear ribosomal transcribed spacers (ITS1-5.8S rRNA-ITS2) is a popular marker that has superior taxa resolution in some groups of organisms. A taxonomic reassessment of 27 Tilia taxa combining a molecular marker (ITS...
Comparison of three guanidinine thiocyanate RNA extraction methods applied to shellfish extract for enteric virus detection
Human enteric viruses are transmitted through water and food. It’s therefore necessary to include the research of these agents in the food and water sanitary quality analysis. Most of these viruses are not culturable. G...
Diversity and vegetation analysis in Delta Island, Lumbocan, Butuan city, Agusan Del Norte, Philippines
Vegetation analysis is a way to study species composition and structure of a plant community. At the mouth of the Agusan River, two deltas was formed through the accumulation of silt, sand and mud over years. The main is...
